daily eats

lola is eating…beetroot, carrot and brown rice mush. oh yum. but such a pretty pink.
max is eating….electrolyte rehydrating solution, a square of dark chocolate and a nibble of zwieback (dried bread). the last 2 are recommended here as a suitable diet for gastro sufferers. poor babe has been spouting from both ends all day and night.
i am eating…successive nutritionally unsound rounds of bread with nutella, coffee, and muesli bars in between trips to the washing machine and the bathroom.
bruno is eating….as above.

as you can see from the above, lola is the only one in the family currently eating anything decent.

someone feed us some real food!

  1. Hi
    Sorry to hear about the gastro. Isn’t it awful!!
    Happy Mother’s Day to you.
    For Mother’s Day I received Nigella Lawson’s Domestic Goddess. This has made me wonder about what your favourite cookbooks are and why.
    The ones I use as a touchbase tend to be:
    Stephanie Alexander’s Cook’s Companion (the orange tome): like a foodie dictionary and good reference but sometimes too purist for me. Her beef casserole is so easy and delicious;
    Donna Hay Magazine: tries to be as simple as possible, good for ideas but not always what this family needs;
    Cookery the Australian Way: from when I did Home Economics in Year 9 — such a trusty, basic book. This one sometimes has the answers when the foodies are too over the top. Recent example: Oscar wanted a recipe to make pancakes for brekkie. Donna Hay would have us folding whipped egg whites into the batter along with blueberries. The Year 9 text gave Oscar the old 1.5 cups milk, 1 egg, 1 cup flour, mix, go.
    Robin Barker’s Feeding Your Baby and Toddler: great, simple family friendly meals. Not exotic, very every day.
    Rita Erlich’s 15 Minute Food: a tiny book but some of the simplest ideas ever. Use this all the time.
